The fetish trend has taken over.
The glossy black surfaces with latex seen at Marc Jacobs; lace boots, daring bodysuits and bondage masks at Alexander McQueen; rubber boots and satin baseball jackets at Givenchy; French maid’s uniforms accompanied by handbags attached to their wrists, admiral’s caps and golden handcuffs at Louis Vuitton.
“Everyone has a little fetishist in himself,” says shoe designer Christian Louboutin, who is known for his towering high heels.
He who has always been known for his tendency to the kinky side of fashion even has his very own exhibition leaning to the fetish trend, running at this very moment; Alexander McQueen: Savage Beauty at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York. Still not fetished-up? The Fashion World of Jean Paul Gaultier opened at the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts and will be touring to Dallas, San Francisco, Madrid and Rotterdam until 2013.
For anyone naughty enough; don’t hesitate to let leather, latex, lace and PVC shine through here and there in your wardrobe this season. That’s a hint here and there; keep the full on outfits for an occasional dress-up party.
