We have all been there; your heel gets stuck in between the street cobbles. You hurt your ankle, your heel breaks off, a tram is coming; a moment of embarrassing panic. It’s a part of a lady-like ladies life. Or, isn’t it?
The women in Rome have got it good; the streets are adjusting to their stiletto-needs. Last week, the mayor of Rome announced to pave some of the streets to make then less dangerous, especially for ladies in heels.
The idea is to honor the ancient city’s characteristic features. Some parts of the streets will be paved, but the greater part will be glorified with flatter stones. The renovations will start of at one of Rome’s busiest streets, Via del Corso. Later in 2012, Via del Theatro Marcello, Via Petroselli and Piazza Bocca della Verita will follow.
The mayor of Rome, what a man! What a plan! Now it’s a matter of time before this genius idea passes on to inspire every metropolitan city’s mayor, all over the globe.
