Actress Meryl Streep draws attention with a new movie coming out and her stunning appearance on the cover of Vogue magazine.
Vogue US is known to be one of the most leading magazines in fashion. To get through Anna Wintour’s critique and make it on the cover is an honor by itself. But to be the oldest person ever, at age 62 to be precise, to shine on the magazine’s first page, adds yet another spark to the occasion.
Even though Meryl Streep is not only one of the most impeccable but also best-loved actresses of our age, she wasn’t intimidated to play the part of Margaret Thatcher – one of Britain’s most controversial women - for her latest movie.
“There was a special venom reserved for Thatcher, I felt, because she was a woman.” Streep pointed out in the January issue of Vogue US. “With any character I play, where she is me is where I meet her. It’s very easy to set people at arm’s length and judge them. Yes, you can judge the policies and the actions and the shortcomings – but to live inside that body is an another thing entirely. And it’s humbling on a certain level and infuriating, just like it is to live in your own body. Because you recognise your own failings, and I have no doubt that she recognised hers.”
‘The Iron Lady’ will be out in cinemas from the 12th of January. We say; perfectly casted.
