Since Volvo has been sponsoring Amsterdam International Fashion Week, there’s a Scandinavian brand showing what they’ve got to offer at AIWF each year. Last Saturday, Danish brand Edith & Ella successfully showed her spring summer 2012 collection.
Designer Line Markvardsen has put together a highly wearable collection. She was inspired by the love for her grandmothers, Edith & Ella, to come up with a name for the brand.
The show opened with the more sophisticated line called “Epoque”. With “Desert Godess” as a theme, the stunning designs mostly came in nude, earth and sand colors. The second line called “Edith & Ella” came in two themes: “40ies, 50ies, 60ies” and “Sassy Sailor Girl”. With this second theme, the models got to walk down the runway with French music singing to them. These happy themes gave a wink to the inspiration drawn from her grandmothers, but in a modern and playful manner. Jolly jumpsuits, elegantly waisted dresses and adorable prints made the models leave the runway dancing and left the crowd behind with a smile.
